Hey guys ! I know its been quite a while since I last blogged . But monsoons are the main argument for this . Firstly I detest it because of the mucky, wet feeling and the cold shivers that come along with the rains. Besides the atmosphere during monsoons , I catch a cold very easily and the sickness goes on for weeks and weeks and that’s why I make sure I go out very less during this season. But yet I took the risk and attempted to shoot , I failed many times because it rained on the dates after planning, but one shoot that happened to be successful, is this one .
So recently, I have been crushing over materials like Cottons , Khadi , Linens, more of summer fabrics. Brands those who make an effort to create modern and western dresses using these fabrics are one of a kind and special, they definitely have my heart. Recently I collaborated with a start up brand called the Notch Above Creations
Notch Above Creations pride themselves in making affordable western casuals for women. They commonly use easy breezy natural fabrics like cottons and depended Cottons, Khadi , Khaki and Cotton Linen blends. In short, Comfort with easy style. This clothing brand makes the best out of natural fabrics. Let me brief you about some natural fabrics and how it is safer than the the other fabrics.
Linen is hypo-allergenic and protects against sun radiation. It has been used for over 10,000 years and is luxurious and comfortable. Linen is obtained from the flax plant. It is strong and can absorb up to 20 times its own weight in liquid. It is used for rugs, painting canvases and apparel.
Cotton is one of the best-known natural fabrics. The fibre grows around the seeds of the cotton plant and cotton has been used since about 3000 BC. Cotton is soft, strong, flame retardant, hypo-allergenic and easy to wash. It is the most popular natural fabric used in making clothing. It is also used to make home furniture, bags and medical products. Heavyweight cotton fabric can be used to make items such as shoes and tents.
Fabric blends are made of different types of fibres twisted together. This can result in an item that is easier to clean, care for or more comfortable. Polyester blended with cotton is very common. Silk can be blended with wool to result in a subtle texture, for example in making ties. Ramie blended with acrylic results in a softer fabric which is easier to care for.
Khadi is a term used for fabrics that are hand-spun and handwoven, usually from cotton fiber. However, contrary to popular belief, khadi is also manufactured from silk and wool, known as khadi silk or woolen khadi respectively. The fabric is known for its rugged texture, comfortable feel and ability to keep people warm in winter while keeping them cool during the summer.
So if you’re someone who has skin issues or itching because of the fabrics , its high time you switch to natural and organic fabrics
The first co-ord set is a cool dress code for a beach day . The black crop top with summer prints is an elegant combination with high waist loose peach shorts , I styled it with a thin tan belt , you could also go for a broader belt or any belt of your choice.
Have a look at the first outfit by Notch Above Creations
Notch Above Creations impressed me with the themed outfits that they sent me. The two outfits with a solid peach pastel coloured dress with unique detailing on the sleeves . Ruffle sleeves on the shoulders gives the plain chic outfit an edgy look. A broad belt sort of a feature at the waistline give this knee length dress a beautiful structure , also showing off my body figure.
Here we come to an end of this beautiful article . But there is one thing I am sure you all must be wondering . Where did I shoot this and what is this place ? Well , its none other than Alila Diwa Goa . A 5- star Deluxe Luxury Resort in Majorda . I just feel lucky that I got to utilize this place for my shoot and my next blog. I’m very grateful to the management for allowing me to shoot at this space smoothly. Its a beautiful property with a view of lush green paddy fields, they blended their architecture with some influence of the Goan houses like the rooftops and courtyards also called as ‘angaan” their property also inlcludes wide verandas and tranquil balconies where you can hear the birds chirping and the beach waves colliding on the sand from the nearby Gonsua Beach. All in all, its an extraordinary experience in a luxury destination travel.
I hope you guys enjoyed this article that not only included different types of natural fabrics but also some details and Goan influence on the 5-star property of Alila Diwa Goa, in fact a mini tour of the property.
